Oenothera speciosa ‘Silky Orchid’. I started growing (from seed) & using this beautiful, unusual Evening Primrose last year, placing it in beds/borders where a softer edge is desired.

‘Silky Orchid’ has a wonderful tendency to spread itself & spill over edges, or intermingling with other plants, adding a romantic look to any planting scheme.

As it is night-scented with pale blooms, ‘Silky Orchid’ is also a lovely choice for moths & the night garden. (It’s really important not to forget how important it is to plant our garden for moths, as well as other pollinating insects).

‘Silky Orchid’ is a perennial – if it spreads beyond your liking, gently dig out a clump & grow it around your garden, or share it amongst friends & family.

If you’d like a helping hand designing your beds or borders, or just need some advice, please do get in touch. I offer consultancy & ‘softscape’ design services and really enjoy working with clients who love wildlife.
