Consultancy

A garden re-design is not always requested. Sometimes, clients would prefer to do the work themselves, though they might require a helping hand – a fresh pair of eyes often reveals opportunities seen from a new perspective, or experience passed on from one gardener to another can clarify areas of uncertainty.
A garden consultation consists of an on-site meeting* to explore your garden and provide one-to-one advice and/or mentorship about areas/issues where you would like support. It is specifically tailored to what you need.
Consultations can be booked as a 1-off visit, or multiple visits spread out over the year. Garden consultations can also be gifted – why not GIFT a garden consultation to someone for a special occasion?
Some topics clients seek assistance with include:
- evaluating a particular bed/border & suggestions for refreshing the planting scheme
- enhancing existing spaces for nature/increasing garden biodiversity
- suggestions to improve ‘problem’ areas
- understanding seasonal garden tasks (appropriate times for planting, pruning, mulching, feeding etc)
- tending a garden using organic methods (including looking at ways to encourage wildlife as pest control)
- identifying opportunities for new beds/borders and what type of planting scheme would maximise biodiversity
- pruning and weeding advice
To help focus the consultation, it is a good practice for clients to email across a list of issues/topics for discussion in order to maximise the efficiency of the meeting. Time for any further Q&A is usually held at the end of a consultation.
Afterwards if desired, a digital summary of the on-site discussions can also be provided to the client as a helpful reference.
*Consultations are billed per hour, with a 1 hour minimum service. Site visits beyond 30 minutes travel time each way are billed mileage at the standard rate. Additionally, travel time beyond 1 hour each way are also billed for driving time.
